Step 1:
Read the descriptions for each expert and choose who in your group will assume the role of each type of expert.
Expert Meteorologist: Creates a large scale map that illustrates data related to your weather event. This map will be labeled and must be explained in detail to the audience. You will need to have at least one more visual relating to your topic to present.
Expert Safety Engineer: This person will create a presentation safety guide for your natural disaster. This will need to be very detailed with specific instructions for what the best way to stay safe is during the disaster and what precautions should be taken. You will need a visual to go with this. (examples: disaster kit, poster to display, etc.)
Expert After the Storm : This person will research and describe what happens after an area has been affected by a storm. You will need to tell us what happens after a storm hits an area. Who provides help? What do the communities have to do to recover? What could the cost be? Are there any lasting effects?
Expert Historian (if you have 4 in your group): This person will research what might happen to a person during the disaster and create a script for an interview with a “survivor” of a disaster. This will be a made up person, but you will write the scripted interview of how that person would answer if he/she had lived through the disaster. You will then have one of your team members do a mock interview with you using your script.

Step 2:
Working as the experts, you and your partners will individually respond to questions that you create about your topic by conducting research and completing your role.
Step 3:
When you have completed your research and individual requirements, you will meet with the rest of your team. Together you and your team will create a television documentary sharing the information you have learned. Be sure to write down the script that will be read on camera!
